Beruwela Sri Lanka

The two neighbouring resorts of Beruwela and Bentota on the southwest coast form the hub of tourism on Sri Lanka and are separated from each other by the Bentota River. This is a sort of lagoon near the coast, where you'll find the best conditions for windsurfing and sailing. In this region, the most beautiful beaches on the island start. The coast is protected by a coral reef, so it's possible to swim even when the sea is rough. You can get a glimpse of local life at the fish market in the small town of Aluthgama, which is situated between the two resorts. The railway line to the south runs close to the coastline, and in some hotels, you can hear the train tracks at times. The best time to visit the west coast is from November to April. You can get there by land transfer from Colombo (Bandaranaike airport).
