Lamezia Terme, commonly called Lamezia, is an Italian city in the province of Catanzaro in the Calabria region. MAIN TOURIST ATTRACTIONS • The Castle is now a group of ruins on the top of a hill 320 metres high. According to some scholars it was built by the Bruttii or by Greek colonists. The current structure probably dates from the Norman rule, although a fortification already existed at the time of the Ostrogoth king Teia. • The Bastion of the Knights of Malta is a massive, well‑preserved watchtower built in 1550 by the Spanish viceroy of Naples, Pedro de Toledo. • The Abbey of the 40 Martyrs. • The Eco‑Museum of Lamezia Terme in Sambiase.
