Paracas Peru

Paracas is the capital of the Paracas District in the Ica Region in Peru. This small port town caters to tourism and serves as the starting point for tours to the Islas Ballestas and the Paracas National Reservation. The beautiful Paracas Bay, protected by the Paracas Peninsula, provides a break from ocean waves in its shallow, warmer waters, allowing life to thrive, especially near its southwestern edge within the Paracas National Reserve. The Paracas Museum, located near the southwestern edge of Paracas Bay, offers valuable information about the Paracas culture and the many unique species, particularly the birds of Paracas. Paracas is situated in a very windy area, with strong air currents carrying sand, from which Paracas gets its name.
