Puerto de la Cruz is a region located in the north of the island of Tenerife. It was declared a Tourist Interest site in 1955, and it beautifully combines the island's traditional architecture with modernity. The coastal area houses several of the city's main attractions, such as the old harbor, the promenade, and the Lago Martiánez complex of swimming pools designed by the Canary Islands architect César Manrique. Loro Parque is a zoo situated on the outskirts of Puerto de la Cruz, which boasts a vast and diverse collection of animal and plant species.
